Simple SB-800 question

I'm looking at purchasing a SB-800 flash and was wondering if it can match the 5 FPS of my D200. I was a bit confused when I read the recharge time in between shots is 4 seconds, yet my (very old) Metz flash can flash in fairly rapid succession.

Can someone clear this up for me?

It depends on how much output you need. It won't recycle that fast if it's pumping out full power on each shot....but at a much reduced output it will keep up.

If you need a more rapid recycle time at high power, it's SD-8A time or another such external power source.

If you are firing fill flashes at low output power, it should keep up on the 5fps, but if you are depending on the flash to light up the entire scene at high output power, it hardly be firing at 5fps.

The SB800 will be a good investment...just do it.
