Any members of NAPP?

Postby gleff on Wed Nov 22, 2006 8:51 pm

I was just wondering if anyone is a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP)?

I'm really crappy at photoshop but I find photoshop TV really helpful and it looks like it could be a good source of information to learn. If anyone is a member, I was just wondering if you think it was worth it, and more importantly, do you think it's worth joining if you aren't good at photoshop like me.

As far as I can see, the advantages to joining is free access to Photoshop TV, and the Photoshop User magazine. Both of those together look almost worth the $99 US dollars a year.

Just after people's thoughts.

I was thinking of joining long before, but then I didnt as I found out that the web and forum does help on my learning and going trough bits of practice, its all good.

I think they require more about you being in America and some sort of job in the media for you to apply, not sure about this tho.

This is from the FAQ.

Q. Do I have to be a Photoshop expert to join NAPP?

Absolutely not! This is NOT the National Assn. of Photoshop Experts, or Gurus. In fact, most of the people who join the NAPP aren't experts at all. They're simply people who want to learn more about Photoshop (regardless of their level of expertise) who need education and training, and want to stay on top of industry news and trends.
Q. Will I have to pass a test to join NAPP?

There is no test of any kind, or any restrictions on who can join the association. The only requirement is a desire to learn more about Photoshop.

Damn i'm tempted. I've thought of learning snippets the free way eg. the web etc, but I find it hard to stay motivated. I know it sounds kinda stupid, but i'm hoping by spending a hundred and fifty bucks i'll be motivated enough to learn it a little. If I don't.. well, i've spent worse amounts of money on crap :)

It is all about psychology of human.

People give you free advise on all goods, you never pay attention or listen to them... you pay them $3,000 to get you an advised which was crappy, you pay full attention and do it very carefully...

yeh.. I'm just a little slow.. I realise the weekly ones are free, but if you try and download previous weeks, they charge for it now. :)

I love photoshop TV though.. i'll have to try and download them weekly from now on. I wonder what day they generally appear.

They generally appear on Thursdays (our time)

If you decipher their filename, you can probably get your hands on other episodes :D

You can also subscribe to Photoshop TV via ITunes, and then the weekely episode is caught for you and downloaded into Itunes next time you run the program.
Radiant Vista also provides video podcasts via Itunes, and also Photowalkthrough.
All free, and you can watch the photoshop tutorials whenever you want.
