Thought this was a pretty cool idea..shooting a movie on a DSLR, kinda like "Corpse Bride" but not animation.

Some guy shot a 35min short movie on the D50 using stop-motion photos comprising 15,000 frames (not counting those rejects =). The trailer for the short called Opaco is http://www.martincrespo.net/clips/opacotrailers.htm and some of the stills and info are here http://www.pbase.com/crespoide/opaco

Very interesting...

I don't think it would of hurt to have a d2? at his disposal to have the high frame rate, but a interesting little project.. you'd have to have a lot of patience.

This isn't actually all that new.

I seem to recall a thread on something like this being done on a D70 ... probably around late 2004 or early 2005.

or a canon 20D- "between you and me" by patryk rebisz (sic?)
i was going to shoot my major work with my D70s and kit lens, but i decided against due to possible equipment failure and my lack of funds to finance a backup/replacement if it did fail.

but a 35min video shot on D70.. jeez he must have that shutter noise echoing in his ears!

You must do these type of projects when your D70 is brand new... over 15k actuations in short period of time... record a 80min video and your D70 may kneel down in front of you.... :P

Or is this how the "legendary 100k actuation" came in??

thats why you get some sort of extended warranty if you do do alot of that stuff :P

recording 80min video using D70 @ max size i think would make my patience kneel before me before the camera does!

for the records,
mine's nearing 40k..
