Curves: how to switch between them in cameraHey all!
Ok, I have loaded some curves into my D70 (i think) in hopes to help my underexposure problem that I am dealing with. My question is, how do I know that the curves are loaded and how do I switch between them while out shooting photos. Where are they kept in the camera to be able to switch them. I hope this question makes some kind of since. Thanks Gerry
Hi Gerry.
You can't have loaded too many curves into your camera, as the D70 only permits one custom curve to be there at any point in time. If you load one, and then try to load a second, that's perfectly fine; the secon overwrites the first, and you're still left with just the one. To use the curve that you've loaded, pull up you menu, select the camera icon, optimize image, custom, tone comp, custom. HTH. g.

I hope that 'Multiple Custom Curves' will be added in a future firmware update, but i doubt it. Still, one must remain optimistic.

You need to load the curve into the camera first ... using NC
There's quite a few around; I like the realia curve myself. g.

I'm sure I saw somewhere that you could load a custom curve from a picture already on a CF card in you camera - they were suggesting this as a way around not having multiple curves.
The idea was to have a small CF card in your kit with example pics taken using different curves. When the situation arose where you wanted a different curve, you could load it from the CF card. Mind you, I can't find this mentioned anywhere, and I've now searched several places. I may have been dreaming! *** When getting there is half the fun! ***
Unfortunately, this technique can't be used with curves, but it is a good way of keeping multiple white balance settings at hand. One of the options on WB is to use the setting from an existing pic. Cheers What's another word for "thesaurus"?
Hrmmm - maybe that's what I was thinking of, knew I'd seen something like it! Thanks for pointing this one out Pity - would think that Custom Curve from existing pic would be far more useful to put in than WB from existing! *** When getting there is half the fun! ***
Absobloodylutely! g.
