Small enough but not big enough

I am wanting to showcase my images to customers probably on CD. Instead of putting up the entire shoot on the net (on my website) I think I'd rather send the client a CD of all the images on disk with a subtle-ish watermark but at a resolution and size I know they won't be able to print them at. Sorry if this question sounds a little simple, but can anyone recommend a standardised size/resolution that would be big enough to display on cd but not allow a decent print? I don't want to put a watermark right through the display image. Thanks in advance,

I'd try 800 px on biggest side and 72 ppi.

I'm with Alex it's the dpi I'd tinker with as well as the pixel size since a screen typically only displays 72 dpi but for decent printing you need more. I'd be going with 600 pixels wide though since some people will still be using 640 x 480 screens and even for those of us with screens 3 times that 600 pixels is plenty big enough to look at.

not sure if you were planning something like this or not but instead of just sending them a set of jpg files, why not create a Windows movie? You can have sound, titles, credits, copyright etc. They also get viewed in the order you want.

600px is probably enough but you can print a 6x4 at that resolution.

Also, why not make a simple menu system using 'jalbum' which is a simple to use Java application that creates a gallery of thumbnails which when clicked on will bring up your 600px images. It needs an internet browser installed on the clients computer, but pretty much everyone does anyway. This will make it much easier for your computer illiterate clients.
