After weeks of playing with the camera's settings and snapping at various pieces of furniture at home I finally had my first real outing with the camera.
I'm very pleased with some of the results, specially from my el cheapo 75-240 nikkor lens.
This is one of my better ones taken at 240mm at 400 iso with polariser and a bit of photoshop post processing.

Still wish I had the 400 VR though!

Late afternoon yes, centennial park no.
Its at lake Gillarwanna (I think that's how you spell it) at Georges Hall, not far from Bankstown airport

I pass by that lake every week, nice shot btw.
These birds gathered at this lake with more quantity than usual coz the drought that we are encountering, just my guess.

Yes, and apparently they're causing quite a bit of damage to the park. BTW probably not a bad spot for a meet.

Bankstown airport is just around the corner and we had problem with these birds last year on the runway, once we were ready for take off.

It's a great spot with a vastly park nearby, bbq, bike track, walking track and a famous restaurant is just few metres away, great western food, mainly Italian I think. It's very crowed in summer time.
