i dont know about you guys, but im really sensitive about my lcd, the first thing i bought when i got my 350d was a screen protector, i cant stand having dirt/grime/oil from the nose on the screen. each time i put my camera back in its case, i have to wipe it down until its spotless, this is'nt just for cameras though, i do this constantly to my monitor aswell, if i see a spec on it, i HAVE to wipe it! just wondering if anyone else like this, or am i just obsessive??

I'm certainly not over sensitive about it, infact i dont remember the last time I wiped mine over.. it actually seems to stay fairly clean. Saying that, I usually only use mine to check the histogram, the LCD doesnt give a real good representation on most occasions of image quality.

Bo1ng, do you feel the need to wash your hands a lot? I don't do the same as you, but can understand why you do. Welcome to the forum. :D

I know what you mean! I cannot stand when someone is touching my monitor and leaves his fingerprints!!!

The best photographic accessory purchase I've ever made was a set of screen protectors for the three displays on the D2H. I got them off eBay for about $20. They're brilliant, virtually invisibe, and don't get in the way like that stupid plastic cover (which I've ditched forever).

Cheers
Steffen.

I've never wanted to use a screen protector because I could not find enough reason to. What are your reasons in doing so?
If it makes the screen easier to see or resistant to the usual oily smudge on the screen, then I'm interested :D

They protect the LCD screens from scratches and scuff marks, without making them harder to see (unlike the ghastly plastic cover for the main screen). They also won't be accidentally lost, and can be replaced cheaply if worn out.

Cheers
Steffen.

I have a CRT monitor - albeit quite a good one - and I am very fussy about the screen being clean. My wife has a tendency to want to touch the screen when pointing at something, and this can result in a tense moment when I smack her hand away. (Hey, it isn't like she doesn't know the rules). Greasy fingerprints on the screen will dimish my quality of life.

HA! that is exactly how it's like with my girlfriend! each time she points out something, she HAS to touch the screen! "you're going to break the delicate crystals inside woman!"

Perhaps the plastic covers are a bit worse on the D2H, Steffen? I don't have any problems using the one on the D200, but maybe that's just me!

I have a couple of spares for my D200 and D70s - I like 'em because they give a little extra hard protection against scratches and knocks etc compared to the stick-on LCD protectors

no matter what i try to do theres always dirt/grime/oil from my nose that gets on the screen.
the screen protector didnt help much, i found it to slide off sometime.
so i have to say i have given up.
just wipe and go these days.
theres more to life then worrying about the lcd
