From D70 to D80,...........nice!

Postby marcos on Tue Feb 06, 2007 1:40 pm

I know I haven't post anything in about a year, but lately took he camera for a lens cleanup at Wolf Camera and saw the D80 from the corner of my eyes, 12 minutes later I was paying for it, :-). I wasn't going to, but three details that made my desicion, bigger sensor, 1O megapix, go down to ISO100 and the ability to use lockup mirror function when used with a remote cable (US$45), one more feature, 11 focal points.....oh boy, I'm glad I bought it, I'm a happy camper! :-)
By the weekend I'll post some pixs from a helicoter over looking Grand Cayman (D70)

Sensor is slightly bigger, meaning more details, also the LCD screen is 2.5"

23.7 x 15.6 mm (D70)
23.6 x 15.8 mm (D80)

I dont think that will really hit a size difference. Tho the 10MP sensor is always good to have :)

Yi-P, I was under the impression that there was more of a difference. Anyways, just for the lock up mirror function, more focus points and 10mp worth it.
Few good details I noticed, I need less pp from the D80, noise is a lot better and white balance is much, much better than the D70.

Anyone interested in a D70 body? email me.

It's defintely good, better noise handling and stuff. Although I don't think I have surpassed my D70's limits though.

I'm still working right under the D70's limit. So there is still room for improvement before moving on to next body.

Lens lust still on top of the list

Marcos, the D80 has pretty much the same sized sensor as all the other Nikon DSLRs (they all share a 1.5x crop factor) - but you do get a bigger viewfinder and screen compared with the D70 :)
