really interested in what they're selling, and then ask them to hold for "a moment." Walk away and resume whatever you were doing, and in 5 or 10 minutes come back and say "I'll only be a bit longer..." and repeat as necessary.
After you've screwed with them for 30 minutes, only then is the perfect time to tell them to get f**ked or simply hang up. The beauty of this tactic is that it wastes their time, sparing other people the hassle of dealing with the call. I also find it a great fun stress reliever at work, messing with telesales staff.
