Slide Scanner - wanted to borrow.

My parents are in the process of moving from a big house to a unit. They've just come across a large number of slides and asked me if I could scan them to disk. Not knowing the technology etc they weren't aware that you needed a special scanner to do this. I was wondering if any kind forum member owned a slide scanner that I may be able to borrow, for a nice bottle of wine for a few days to do the job for my parents. Anyone? :)

Is that a bottle of wine per day for a few days or one bottle to last a few days (which some people may be able to adher to).

I guess I meant a bottle of wine to last a few days while I borrowed the scanner :)

Geoff, that is going to be a big job. Seriously, have a look at the cost of getting it done.

Geoff,

My boss just picked one up on Ebay for $120 I suggest you have a look if your thinking of getting it done.

I also have a mate that has one of the latest Nikon models. He's not interested in doing the scanning as it's quite time consuming, especailly if your using the ICE technology ( anywhere from 30 sec - 3 minutes per slide ). I'd expect that you may find it quite expensive to have this outsourced.

If you can't borrow one here, then I'd suggest you buy one and then flog it again onced finished.

Cheers.
