I just found out that my 82mm skylight filter's glass is loose. When I shake the filter, it rattles. Then I try try touch and rotate it, yes... it can be rotated like a cpl, but the glass inside rotates...

What can be the cause of this issue? How can I fix it?

I dont remember I hit the lens any time, nor that I dropped it...

I think you mean loose, and perhaps a bit of superglue could do the trick..without getting it on the visible surface ?

It wouldn't happen to be a Kenko UV filter by any chance?
My 77mm filter does the same, hence why I'll be shortly replacing it with a better quality filter.

I'm not sure if it will be the glue that is wearing off... but aren't filter glasses just bounded by two metal rings to hold them in place? I'm not sure...

Just brought a new hoya polorizer....... cleaning the filter and the metal clip and glass popped out......... been doing this for as long as I remember

bad news when you drop a filter, the glass pops out and the metal spring just goes missing, and you tread on the glass.........
