Hey guys, was in newcastle the other day and I saw a photograph that had been framed using 2 perspex sheets. The result was much better than I would have expected. Does anyone here have any experience with a cheap DIY framing technique(even if its not perspex based) - I looking to frame up to A2 in size.

I thought perhaps perspex would be a good way to go. I found a site - http://www.anyshapeplastics.com.au might be helpful.

So is this kind of laminated between the sheets?

I've had a bit of experience with framing with perspex. I put together 2 frames that consisted of 5 A3 photos in a line, all up it was about 130cm long I think and about 50cms or so high, around those marks anyway.

Both the layers of perspex were clear, thats what I'm assuming your looking at doing? One thing to think about is how your going to mount it, because what ever you use is going to be able to be seen through the frame. The only other problem I had was the perspex was really heavy, and because my frame was so long, I couldnt get a thinner layer because it was bending in the middle from the wall out. And their not the easiest thing to put together and keep clean at the same time!

But if your only looking at doing one A2 photo you might not have those problems.

I got some great response from the 2 I did, to my suprise I sold one for $1300 in a charity auction which was great so people liked the look of it, but I wont be doing it again because it was to much hassle!
