SB-80DXHi All,
A friend of mine is selling his SB-80DX speedlite at mates rates to me (if I want it). Anyway, I have a D200 and a SB-600 but it got me thinking that I could use it as a second flash. Is anyone using this setup at the moment and how does it shape up? (ie: D200 & SB-80DX). I suppose we could compare it to SB-600 and 800. Would like to here your experiances and comments and would it be worth buying. Thanks, Bill
I haven't tried that combination, but I did try a D70 + SB600 + SB26. I could only use both flashes in manual mode with the 600 on camera. Using the 600 in any of the auto modes & the 26 remotely resulted in the 26 firing prematurely on the preflash not the main flash. you cannot fire the 600 remotely from the 26 as the 600 does not support SU-4. I did not attempt cable remote as the setup I had did not allow it.
In the end, I gave up & bought an SB800. HTH Greg
It's easy to be good... when there is nothing else to do
The D200 should work perfectly with the SB-80X, I think the SB-80X was THE flash on Nikon's range before the SB800 came out.
The SB80X should be able to fire as a slave flash away from the SB600 on manual modes. tho I don't think you be able to use CLS on them both. You must then play around with manual master/slave flashes to get results. If price difference is not big to the SB800, then I will say to save up and go for the SB800 if you prefer automatic flashes.
Thanks Mr Darcy and Yip. I think I'll take your advice and save up a little more for the SB-800. Then I'll have one of each (ie SB-600 and 800)I don't think it's worth the bother when I can get a better flash.
Cheers, Bill
