about tripodsNewbie question, I would like to get a decent tripod to replace my Tiffen, but not sure what to get. I have my eyes on the Manfrotto 190X model to use with my D80, any feedback from anyone here? any better choice for the same money? around US$250.00. Opinions appreciated.
I have a
Benro C-298N6 Carbon Fibre Tripod (4 sec) - $347.00AU Benro KB-3 Ballhead - $157.00AU And freaking love them! if they are in your price range you can order them from this site once you have access to the bargains sections.
Marcos. The Manfrotto 190x series is an excellent product and will do fine for your needs. It is quite popular.
--- Rob, make those posts meaningful though. Steve.

Yes, the 190 series are fine legs with light weight. Will definitely do fine with a D80 if accompanied with a nice head.
Quite true, I have this tripod with a basic manfrotto quick release head, and you can actually feel the movement between the head and the quick release plate even when fully locked. __________

More expensive models does have this feature. Expect to add around $150-170AU (aprox $120-$140US) into this account. Ballheads like Benro's (quite good value for them) or Manfrotto's 488 series have this feature that indicates how many degrees you're turning the head. They have independent 'pan' and 'rotation' lock knobs so you can just adjust one and leave the other locked. Is best to go out into a store and try out the Manfrotto heads to which one you like. They have different quick release systems, Manfrotto uses their own RC* quick lelease and Benro uses a bit more 'universal' Arca-Swiss type release mount (Just be on the beneficials if you are planning to get those L-Plates or lens plates from Kirk or RSS) Otherwise, they all do the same job.
