What will happen to d70users.com domain name when...Out of curiosity, just wondering what will happen to the d70users.com domain name 5-7 years from now, when the d70 will not be in production anymore, and very likely that most of the members are not using d70 anymore (since in this digital age, DSLRs have shorter life cycle)?
Shouldn't we just switch to nikonusers.com.au or something similar, since some members use other Nikon cameras besides the D70, and there is no forum/online community that caters for Nikonians in Australia? Of course, for some of us, we owe it to the D70 as the camera that introduces us to the world of photography. I think it'll be remembered as one of the early DSLR models that is affordable to the masses. . Just curious what some of you think about this.
All are sorted out while ago! and the D70Users.com well advance prepared

As Onyx said, http://www.DSLRUSers.com has a pretty good reputation, and I believe that they too have challenges very similar to ours, and with discussions well advanced on permitting cameras other than D70s to enter. g.

What do you want, and why? Let's presume tha Nikon announce the D70s or D90 tomorrow at the Japan Photo Imaging Expo (or whatever it's called). Why would you consider buying one in preference to the D70 that you already have? What compelling features would it have that make your D70 no longer useful to you as a tool in helping you make good images? Why is it that suddenly, your working and servicable D70 is no longer usable? Remember it's just a tool, and I have yet to see anything in the rumours that suggest that my almost 12 month old D70 body will be any less functional than it is today. g.

I still use 5 year old and 20 year old film cameras, Matt. It's just a tool. The whole megapixel issues gets way out of hand and most people don't realise that the differnece between 6 and 8 is quite small.
Besides that, we've shown through past demonstrations by users on this forum that even with 6mp and interpolation programs like Smartscale and GF Print Pro, we can achieve beyond what 6mp has to offer anyway. I'm not sure why many people feel obligated to upgrade just because a camera has a new model out. The computer you're reading this post on is old, Matt. Do you feel obligated to upgrade? hows about a forum which also supports people who do still shoot on nikon Film bodies... more of a generic nikon forum than DSLR / Camera specific forum... (australian version of nikonians.org)
I have a domain name in mind, might register it, and either setup such forum or link back to one of these ones... Any thoughts? film users still have a lot to offer the community JD
Well, anyone can talk about film cameras here.... hell, I do it.
But we're going to integrate more than just Nikon digitals on this site soon. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

And I don't have an issue with a section (or maybe more) here devoted to non-digital imaging.
Mind you, image critiques could be a bit of a challenge. Hell, I should take the 801 or FE2 and some filum, mount the 24 or 50 prime on her, and see what happens over the weekend. And drop either the 24-120VR or Leigh's kit lens on the D70. g.

Slightly off topic but last night I had the chance, for the first time, to watch Metropolis by Fritz Lange.
This film is inspirational IMO for those involved in still photography as the imaging in this movie is phenomenal Chris
