Joey, most people here are still hobby photographers, and not full time professionals. We shoot because we love to. It is being because of the snapping shutter sound or the amazing lens, who knows... but we all do like photography. Otherwise, you will just buy stuff and put them into your cabinet forever.
I too understand that the way our normal life will have the effect on getting over on our 'shutter counts' but don't let this put you down from shooting more when you can. You may create a piece of sensational photo by shooting a few than shooting a dozen that should be deleted.
As you mentioned, the word "hobby", and here is its meaning:

Is is all from your leisure time and for relaxation purpose. If you don't have time from your main occupation, dont force yourself in getting this done. Not shooting while doing your main job is very understandable from any hobbyist shooter's point of view.
Anyway, could you do other things due to various commitments and not taking pictures for a lengthy period of time? Have you ever considered yourself being without a camera?
I have stopped shooting for about a month when I had a load of stuff to do, but I still do shoot a few pics once in a while
when I have the time.
I can live without a camera for a short while, but definately can't stand on the place when I see spectacular things happening in front of me and have nothing to capture the moment... if that is the case, just enjoy it with your eyes, and keep it in your own memory is more than worthwhile
