last saturday i went for a job interview with a company called photo123,the job is taking single and group portraits of teams.i have atest run this saturday and tips would be great

Relax!

Look where the sun is (if u are shooting outdoors) in relation to where your 'group' is.

Shoot RAW (do you get to PP or do u just hand them a card?)

Assert yourself so you get people in the right positions, simple stuff - tall people at the back, shorties up the front.

Use your histogram, it's your friend.

Make it as fun as possible. Be motivated and enthusiastic, that goes a long way.

If something doesn't go right, move on... PS - U thanked me a little early

Oh yeah, don't cross your fingers, even on a Canon it will make using the dials and shutter somewhat difficult

Rule one and all you need, never be afraid or nervous. You can be nervous or afraid right now, but not on that day!!

You need to show them that you know what you're doing.
You need to let them know that you're the one in control.
You need to take control, don't be afraid to yell at people (politely) and tell them what to do.

Take it relaxed, the shoot will take pace by itself after the first few shots.

Yi-p - he can (and probably will be) a bit nervous on the day.

A few nerves are good, keeps you on your toes (which hopefully aren't crossed either)

Zsolt, relax. You will be fine.
Just think of it as a day out with the family taking shots. You're in control (to a certain degree ) and go with the flow.
Remember the basics and they will get you through. Are you using fill flash?

well i went out for my trial and i pretty much have the job.they want me to be a subcontractor so i will need an abn number and get PL insurance i think i will need to insure my gear as well.
i am not allowed to bring any pics home as they are all of kids,i HAVE to shoot jpeg and hand over the memory card at the end of the day.
i took individual shots today of two groups using the pros canon 30D.

how would you guys set up a group shot in relation to the sun,the two people i worked with were different,one had the sun to the side of the group and the other had the sun behind the group,shooting into the sun

I'd imagine if you're not careful with exposure and or flash that shooting with the sun behind the group could severley underexpose them. I'd probably go with the sun to the side, with a bit of fill flash from the other side.
