whats the deal?

i read a quick review of the product spec on it, there is no mention of MP's in the marketing hype, and in the spec list it says that 3 3.4MP images are overlayed to produce an image that is 12mp or something. sounds kind of similar to the fuji s series methodology...

has anyone had any experience with this thing?

just for curiosities sake...

You're talking about a Foveon sensor.

From what I understand, it's a similar process to the Fuji, but with 3 sensors as opposed to two. You have 3 sensors, one for each colour of the spectrum (Red, Green, and Blue) and the image is made from the layered composites taken from those sensors.

The Fuji sensor I expect is slightly different as it tends to pull in twice the amount of information from its sensor as say a normal sensor and then downsample the image to become a higher resolution version of the original image.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
