Going to do a Wedding in early March.

What will I need for my SB800 ?

Will I go for Energizer Lithiums, say 12 AA's
Or
Rechargable, I'm thinking rechargable but which ones
2500ma's / 2300ma's ???

I'm confused  Heeeeelllppppp Please !

get some rechargeable 2400mAh AA NiMH batteries....

two sets should do unless you are an utter shutter freak...

My sb-80DX (same GN) lasted on one set but I was shooting for most of the night without it (shooting at f/1.4 to 2.8)

At least 3 sets of rechargeables, always have backup.

The lithium for the D70 should last you all day and night. I have one spare. I did a wedding last saturday...7am to 11pm....the D70 was still going strong with the fisrt battery. AA's....Maha Powerex is great.

That Choice magazine article is interesting, I thought the Energizer batteries were rebadged Sanyo batteries so would therefore have the same performance.

Anyway my personal preference is the Sanyo 2300mAH.

The Sanyo 2500mAH cannot be obtained locally as yet, they were released approximately in November last year in Asia.

I'd just carry a couple of ferrets in a small cage, with a wheel, of course, in my pocket.

That conjures up all sorts of disgusting images. I'll just go wash my brain out with soap

The interesting thing about the Choice mag comparison is that the Digitor brand came second. Well, there goes the thought i had that Digitor were crapola.

Hmm, i have two digitor 2100 AA's. Several Energizer 2300 AA's, stacks of Powertech 2300 AA's (from Jaycar), some powerbase 2500 AA's.

Might have to get some more Energizers...........

EDIT: As an afterthought, i did notice that the NiMh battereis outperform the Lithium batteries (Although they were Kodak)

According to the SB-800 manual you will get a minimum of 150 flashes out of a set of 2000mAh Ni-MH batteries (Page 19). Dont forget that a lot of your shots will be below full output, so I would imagine ~200 would be what you would get.

2 sets of varta's should do it easy. If the first set run out, just plug them into the charger and they'll be ready to go in 15 minutes (probably before you've had time to load the second set  )

FWIW, I've got some no name 2300s in my SB-800 and I've taken over 100 shots and they still are going strong.

Thanks for all the good advise Lads.
The Ferrets would make the wedding a tad more difficult to shoot I think.
But it would be different & a Wedding everyone I think would remember.
Hhmmmm
