G'day,

Just wanted to put forth a question about the generic grips offered on the site. What is the difference between the generic grips and the branded ones? I'm looking at one for my 5D but questioning whether I should fork out more than double what the generic one costs. Is there a difference in quality, will it cause electronic issues or is it one of those buy a generic product at your own risk scenarios?

From what I've seen, the functions, buttons and appearance all seem to be the same as the genuine BG-E4. Just wanted to get some other POVs on this as I haven't found any reviews, etc.

Maybe I should just suck it and get the genuine gear.

looks very different, and I suspect this uses an IR trigger looking at the LED window on the front. Also, the batteries slide in the side, rather then the MB-D200 flimsy rear door. I'm guessing they sone use the contacts inside the battery compartment, as the MB-D200 does.

Dont know what that L1 L2 switch does...

fair to assume somehting similar applies to the canon.

as discussed, ergonomics are important, and the wireless nikon grip is an improvement. I'd recommend go original canon if price is not to ridiculous.

price is ridiculous with genuine! for my 400D its like $250 (cheapest) and then of course u have to buy 2 batteries!

Why do you need to buy 2 batteries? You already have one.
