Further Price drop from Nikon

I was in Photo Continental today in Brisbane and was told that the D70 Enthusiest pack ( D70, 18-70 and 70-300) price was dropped a further $200 by Nikon yesterday. They are now selling it for $2098 and the $200 rebate is still valid till the end of Feb. There was no price drop for the just the kit, so they are selling both currently for $2098.

Cheers
Georgie

Seems a bit silly, doesn't it.

I'd bet there are people who'd, A. buy it at that price, and B. buy the kit at the same price with the logic that they don't need the other lens. :)

Well at this rate I'll be able to afford one soon!

Only problem is that some new model will be released and I'll want that one so I'll wait a bit and then ....

The vicious loop will continue forever!

But then again I think I'll just buy this great camera and enjoy what I have rather than imagining what I may have one day :-)

I bought the Nikon D1 in January 2000 - then came the D1x and D1h and then the 2Dh - did not worry me as I had a great camera. Sold the D1 in 2004 and bought the D70 - result - happy

Yes, of course there is the buy and sell after a few years as new stuff comes out path

BUT ...

I think I will only have one opportunity to make a purchase - the family management/accounting department will struggle enough with me making only one major camera purchase in the forseeable future i.e. next decade ;-)

Well whatever you do, don't buy it from places such as the one commented on in this thread.

This price is out since Dec. 10, the price for the whole kit as the D70+ 18-70 + 70-300 =$2000.00, after rebate your final payment is $1800.00  and selling like hot cake, not $2098.00, they're misleading, no price drop at all since then.

Yeah, I was browsing, actually just having a good look at it. The impresion I got from them was that this was a"new" price drop, but as you mention, this may hae been the price and they just haven't passed it on since then.

I must say, for a store this big and dedicated to "photography" the salesman was not extremely knowledgable. Friendly, but not very helpful.

You have obviusly had a bad experience with them previously..........??? :)

  Yes, make up a 55 gallon drum of coffee, sit back and relax, and wait for the next release, then the next release and then the next release untill you empty that drum, still no camera in your hand:lol:
Get what you think you can afford and within your budget now, go out shooting and enjoy, this D70 will last you for years to come.
Many people still have the D1 camera and they are still happy shooters.
