I know there are a few people who own a Nikon 28-70 2.8, and was just wondering if anyone uses it on a D70. Does it function well on this camera? I know it might be a bit front heavy with this lens, but it could be worth enduring this, until I get a new camera.

It does seem ridiculously big on a D70, but balance is all good if you get a good grip on the lens.

AF is damn fast on this thing, even on a D70. I can't really see a difference in AF speed on this beast between a D70 or D2H. It is just mind blowing fast.

Optic wise, maybe you have heard enough about it. Cuts you lose by those razor sharp images...

Two quick samples on how it looks on a D70... BIG it is

Thanks YiP, I love those crisp shots on here, I see from this lens, and your photos certainly show how big it is. The 2.8 could come in mighty handy at times. I will give this lens some serious thought.

I have not used this lens on my d70 yet but I have used it quite a bit on the d200...

It is my favorite lens in my kit, it has almost not left the front of the camera since I have had it.

It is one lens I don't regret paying so much for.

Holy mackerel, that makes it look massive. Who said, good things come in small packages. No wonder they call it the "beast".
