Pregnancy Photography

So I did my first pregancy photo shoot the other day, it started with a few internal nerves from me, fortunately the Mum to be (only a weekto 'go') was more than comfortable posing in just her underwear. I'm reasonably happy with the photos but thought we haven't seen a lot of pregancy photography here on the forum. Does anyone here do it as a major specialty? If so, would you like to share some of your experiences? I've found that B&W photography really suits this style of portraiture. I watch with anticipation...

Geoff, I have only done a tiny bit of this with Alicia, and I agree, B&W does seem to suit best, particularly as the accentuated shapes of the body really work with the available light.

We did our first MIW (Mother in Waiting) shoot about 8 weeks ago now. Shooting nudes / semi nudes at least twice a month we had / have no issues with the nudity. The subject didnt as well in this case which helped.

However the mum who had the baby the next morning was limited as expected with her poses and her mobility. Her energy levels where high and while we where watchfull of this we spent 2hrs shooting. We used a variety of lighting set ups from side on and using snoots.

In post production we used as variety of effects in PS and all in all for our first of this style the results where OK.
