A big scare! Is my lens O.K?

Well as you can probably tell by my relatively low post count i am quite new to these forums and digital photography in general. Anyways, i was lucky enough to recently obtain a Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS lens from Hong Kong, been loving it since.
However, about 10 mins ago as i was getting out of the car after taking some photos with a mate a i hear a smash on floor I look down in utter dismay and shock and see that my new lens had rolled off the seat of my car into the gutter . I quicky ran inside to check that nothing had smashed and IS was working properly and as far as i can tell everything seems ok.
What would be the best way to check that everything is running normal on the lens? I took some sample shots and they also look good however, im worried something may be wrong that i am not picking up...
