Camera L-Brackets & M'Frottos

Postby Yi-P on Sun Aug 05, 2007 10:00 pm

I would like an L-Bracket or L-Plate for my D2H so that the tripod/monopod wont be unbalanced when placing the camera in portrait position.

Tho, all my tripod, monopod and heads are from the RC2 quick release system of Manfrotto. I know there are RRS and Kirk L-Plates for the camera, tho they all use Arca-Swiss mounts... I'm not really familiar with these mounts.

How can I make those L-Brackets fit on my tripod/monopod setups? Do I really need to get a different set of heads to accommodate it or those brackets can mount a regular 1/4" tripod release on them? I have very limited budget and don't really want to replace my support system, yet...

My RRS L plate only has one 1/4" socket, so unless you find an L plate with one for each orientation the Kirk adaptors Glen mentioned are the best bet I think. Or you could buy a new head for your tripod (keep the old one, sell it with your old legs when you upgrade in a few years time).

Oh my... US$190 + $130 for just a L-Plate setup

I was expecting to pay somewhere below US$230 exc shipping...

I wonder if Benro has anything to it... or with the $130 I'd better off buying a Benro head, it does fit the RRS or Kirk plates right??

Kirk or RRS plates work fine on Benro heads, you just need to remove the safety latch off the benro head. I took it off of mine anyway.

I use my Kirk L plate on my Benro KB-1
