Lightweight Lightstands - Where to buy?

Postby Yi-P on Thu Aug 16, 2007 3:42 pm

I'm looking after one (or two) very lightweight and portable lightstand (About or less than 1kg weight and folds under 90cm). The ones I have here at home (those ebay packages) are too heavy and big to lug around to locations, not a very convenient way.

I'm looking after something like this:
http://www.manfrotto.com/Jahia/site/man ... =24&idx=28

Which I'm not sure if they sell it locally, but looked around the auction site and B&H, the shipping is bit too much for the stand itself. It costs $53USD for the stand but nearly $50USD for the shipping, adding all up to $100USD for it.

Do anyone know how much they will cost here? Looked at borge, but its price tag at >$160 is bit too much for just one stand...

Hmmm, how much does the shopping increase if you buy in bulk ? You could do a group order and slip the shipping.

Just did a quick test, if I buy 4-6 of them at once, it cost 102-122USD for shipping, that is ~$74-78USD per stand. Tho I need at like 4 more interests for this to happen.

Yip,

The stands that come with the Poon kits are lighter and smaller than the stands that come with the Oz Plaza kits. I'm pretty sure they fold to under 90cm, although I'd need to measure the one I have at home to be certain.

Great! Please let me know if they are actually under 90cm... I think under 80cm to be bit safer, because my tripod bag fits something like 90cm, but it would be a tad bit under like 80cm length. Tho I'm more concerned about the weight, as long they are very light, I'm happy!

Vincent, AFAIK the Red Wing Kwik Stand is no longer in production, so good luck getting it from Adorama!

there is another kwik stand - http://www.kwik-stand.com/ which is the same principle - 1 hand operation (auto collapsible legs)

Order it through their website or Arlington Camera.

Im seriously considering one for wedding work (already have the 3373 but its not as convenient when Im working solo)

Here's a few links from a search :D
Hope that might help :D

I remember there was a link here a while ago (or maybe not here) to the same stand... on another website, for good price also!

Wow, local sellers are asking quite a bit for these (MF 001B)... $128 + shipping....

I was thinking of getting 2 of these for around $140

Im sure the (MF 001B) is the same product as the Bogen 3373 (usa manfrotto distributor) in which case you can buy one like I did from B&H - in which case about $110 USD - buy some other things or get others to go in on your order and its feasible.

Y-ip,

The Poon stands are well under a meter. I don't have a rule at home to accurately measure their folded length, but it is just marginally longer than the width of an Epson R1800. Whatever that may be.

Another thought to consider might be a couple of Manfrotto Super Clamps.
