Hi there.
Thought someone might have a clear enough sky to capture the copper colours of the moon during this event...
http://home.mira.net/~reynella/skywatch ... tm#Eclipse
On the evening of Tuesday, August 28, there will be a total eclipse of the Moon. As it occurs in the early evening, the eclipse will be able to be watch by young and old alike, no staying up past bedtime. This is also one of the best Lunar eclipses for a long time...
Cheers
Adam.

Hi again.
I sent my friend an email making him aware of this. Seems he is a "bit more than aware".
He responded with a couple of photos and some comments and invited me to share - so here's the story.
Cheers
Adam.
This is a new approach in local astronomy outreach - sharing it where it cannot be seen live. Three observatories will be linked to stream live continuous images of the eclipse as it proceeds. A commentary and Q&A will be online. Where from & who involved: Robert Holmes - Talbot in Victoria - Andre Claydon - Springbrook in Qld - Shevill Mathers - SCO in Tasmania - Using a generously donated Firewire Camera from "The Imaging Source" Germany All three locations are praying for clear skies on the night and good high speed Internet connections. This is where it will be seen: Updated daily: http://www.discoverychannel.com.au/eclipse/ A DVD of the documentary will be available after the event from film maker, Robert Gough - Antipodean Media - Victoria. This is a picture of the 2000 lunar eclipse.
This is my friend Shevill in his observatory.

Very interesting - I hope we have clear skies here....
Mind you, that equipment your friend has looks a bit ominous....

You can view this from anywhere you can see the moon. It will be in totallity for 90 minutes, so plenty of time to practice and get those shots. Shevill is a respected contributing astronomer and author to a major Australian astronomical magazine.

I know he is, I didn't mean any disrespect. Sorry for the quip.

The weather is looking clear for tomorrow here in Nowra so hopefully we'll get a good show. Sweet...... My 2000mm lens is waiting patiently.

Shame I couldn't connect to Shevill's stream. The Victorian one was clouded and the Sprinkbrook one actually was clear (unlike around our place).
