Photo Enhancement Tool uses Flickr images....

Postby Alpha_7 on Thu Sep 13, 2007 1:03 pm

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20646146/

An article about new software being developed that allows parts of images to be replaced by a another image from flickr.

The basic gist is you can introduce more exciting elements or remove a person, object whatever from the original and it will provide suggested replacements from flickr...

Having recently upload some of my images on flickr, I'm not sure I like the idea of part of my image being subsituted into someone elses without my knowledge or permission but the technology is kind of cool..

almost like the joked about "Fix Image" button in Photoshop CS14.

I'm with you on this one Craig. The technology does sound amazing but there are big issues regarding the use of images. Will Flickr allow an option to include your photos or simply allow all by default?

I also think tech like this is taking the skill out of photography somewhat. Being a beginner I like to learn about the different aspects and trying to improve instead of just pressing a button. How far will it go?

I joined flickr mainly for the strobist community there and secondly at a avenue to bring people to my redbubble porfolio but I am considering removing most if not all of my images. When I joined I saw it as a place to display images, not donate them to anyone or everyone.
