Something Nikon should pick up on: Canon's and IR

Interesting piece of news about a new version of the Canon 20D that'll be available in Japan only that lets you remove the filter stopping it from taking true IR pictures.

Leigh - the way I read it you can take true IR photos with this camera :?:

My mistake... I misread it as being able to remove it by hand... regardless, a model with the filter already removed is an excellent idea...

Absolutely - and Killa might be interested in the astrophotography side.

Still - it is only 5 more days to PMA2005 and then we will see if Nikon is bringing anything out of the hat :wink:

Pretty cool, but I would rather just wait until I upgrade from D70 and then remove the filter to it. Risky, but it didn't look too too bad.

Looks tailor made for astro waork, but it's a canon and i don't swing that way. :)

Should I remind you that they make a converter that lets you run Nikon glass on it?

Not that I'm trying to convert a Nikon user, of course...

If i was to use it for Astro work i wouldn't need lenses anyway, but if i did use it i would feel 'dirty' afterwards. :shock:
