Muslin Backdrops

I have just bought a backdrop stand and now need to obtain a muslin backdrop. I have found some on ebay for a reasonable price and right size, and in black, white, and grey.
I am interested in using these for portrait setups and may look at Poon's lighting kits in due course.
In the meantime, from those of you more experienced in these things, which should I get? White? Balck? or Grey?
Many thanks folks

Yes

Seriously, it depends on what kind of image you are trying to capture. If the budget stretches to two (I picked up one from oz-plaza - ebay vendor, for $79 plus postage) - one white and one black.

I have the white one.

Prepare for wrinkles.

Graham ...

Too easy. One of each.

I mean it - they will all serve you well.

If you must, skip the grey, because you can always play with lighting on white to get different shades, if not different colours. But I would definitely get a white and a black. As luck will have it, if you buy white, your first models will be wearing .... white. :)

if you have the storage room, perhaps consider a seamless paper, I love them.

paper gives a better curve from vertical to horizontal, which only matters for full length crops.

I got a white one first, and you can move light and subject away and get it nice and grey (or add gels to your flash and get very nice colors).

Black is easier to use fabric, less reflective for wrinkles etc. maybe consider $6 per linear meter (150cm wide) and stitch it together...

have fun!
