Don't know if this spoofed or not but here is a D2HS listed on a Nikon site
Interesting Glen - when you click on the other products shown you are taken to a new page but when you click on the D2Hs - nothing
Chris

And none of the other associated regional sites show any of the new items either. g.

If it isn't spoofed, it seems damn strange to stick the info. on a Norwegian site first.
That said, I'm having a hell of a lot of trouble finding Whois info on the owner of "europe-nikon.com". Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

Just announced at DPReview, but.... you read it here first!
Still 4MP though. Still targeted as a high speed sports oriented machine. g.

Possibly a speed problem.
Still, not that impressive an announcement list. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

Yes, I had noticed that; and using facial recognition technology. I think it's a very interesting new feature. But with these announcements, I'm not expecting too much more from Nikon. I'm surprised that they've upgraded the D2H but done nothing with the D100. One other very interetsing new feature on the D2HS is the image playback magnification - up tp 15x IIRC, compared with 8x on the D2H. Given how much better this feature already is on the D2H compared with the D70, this is a massive increase yet again. g.

Not wanting to cop a flogging but when you look at the market it is designed for great image quality at 4.1mp is a good compromise.
Can you imagine taking 8fps in bursts of 40 or 50 images at one time - at 12mp or 8mp what size memory card would you be using and how long would it take before you had to load a new one? Craig
.... true... however they've introduced wifi, which would make 8mp a possibility.... http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
announced a little while back, available in the bush about 2006, or Harris Technology in North Sydney has them for $1295 http://www.ht.com.au
Mate we might have to stick one up as a prize so we can see you again
well, gary locked the other topic while I was typing, but I guess that sudden D2H price drop last month makes a lot more sense now eh? Anyone see this one coming with all the d2x hype?

Yes, but playing on Birddog's D2h, I found that at 4mp, it pixelates before you get a chance to really see anything that the massive magnification gives you. Last edited by Nnnnsic on Wed Feb 16, 2005 5:36 pm, edited 1 time in total.

A very long time, actually. Look at the WiFi capabilities; how long will it take to fill a 250GB HDD? g.

Is that the image details pixelating, or the playback viewfinder?? g.

At 4mp, I'd imagine it was the image. I saw pixel edges up close.

THe next generation of compact flash cards, 5 times quicker write speeds (in a proper reader), and sizes upto 8GB. Someone else mentioned Birddogs pack of 8GB cards, they exist, they are real and they are what you would use. If you have the money to buy the d2x or even c&non's 1dsmkII, after your done with lense's and accessories you'll be buying you 8GB cards with the small change you get back.
I shoot my D2h with 8fps/ 40 frames, NEF, on 2Gb card and still don't see the lack of space on the CF cards

Does this mean the D2H will be superceeded or the Hs will sell alongside the H at its previous pricepoint while the H continues at its new lower pricepoint only previous available in North America, to the whole world?!
It still only comes packaged with Picture Project - WTF was Nikon thinking? $US3.5k camera, and you'll need to buy $US99 Capture to do anything useful with the images!!* *Yes, I realise there are other raw converters that work equally well or better and may cost less, but Capture should come packaged with a camera of this calibre!
Onyx - again I agree with you 100% on the software - basically you don’t buy a car without wheels do you! It’s about time they woke up to this point on software. Chris

Yes,
- the D70 will with us at least another 2 years. - The D100 wil have no replacement at PMA and will be faded into Nikon history, in this case and as I have some confirmation and non-confirmation. Birddog114

This is what my say after few observations at Maxwell same as other sources on last Saturday morning (4:00am) from a conference + Monday + Tuesday, but please don't take this seriously if you're in the bad mood of waiting for the replacement of D100 at this PMA.
- There's no replacement in the pipeline for the D100 in the near future. - Nikon is very successfully with the D70 in the last 12 months and it's in the range of prosumer or many pro shooters so far. - The D2H will compete those markets who wish to move from the D100, and price will drop in Australia soon and equal the price of/at the level as the D100. - The D2Hs will compete and in the segment of pro-shooters who engaged in sport shooting or PJs. - The D2x will be in the top range of Nikon DSLR and reserved for Pro shooters who wish to have more MP same as juice in their deep pocket, and I believe it'll be a beautiful unit in my hand. So the era of D100/ D1 series will slowly cruise into the history of Nikon with lot of memories left behind for its owner. Yes, I'm still with Nikon despite they don't have anything out to replace my D100, I'm happy with my D2h with 4MP and I see it can do more for me than my expectation and current hobby, I won't U/G to the D2Hs but will heading to the D2x as soon as it appear in my supplier stock. I thought with the announcement of the D2HS the D2H was history, but if Maxwell is going to offer the D2D inline with the US market price of USD1999, then I might have to take a serious look at your D2H Birddog (it's quite compelling at that price!)
I found it quite strange that approximately over a year ago people were predicting that the D2H was getting replaced by something and the name D2HS stuck as the name of the replacement camera.(People were naming a product before it was introduced, if you know what I mean)
Yes, I read few of that and knowing few of it, anyway there were leaks from Nikon or other sources prior to announced by Nikon. The D2H will stay in current model until when I don't know, but could be a temp. solution to gap in between of their DSLR range (the D70- D100). Birddog114

Spot on Glen. For ~$2K give or take a bit, you don't really get a helluva lot extra do you? If you've got the sort of money the D2Hs will require, the D2X isn't too much more... The D2Hs is pretty much in no-mans land as it stands now.
I have no idea what will come out of this PMA, but I certainly see the incentive for Nikon to keep betting on the D70: their financial results last year were upgraded thanks to strong D70 sales. We'll see what the competition brings, but so far I haven't seen anything approaching D70 quality at similar price.
Link.
I agree with the statements re: D2Hs marketting positioning. For slightly more, you can get the fully fledged D2x. And for a lot less, the current D2H offers almost 95% functionality and features. WT-1 802.11b (missing out on g wireless), matrix meter I vs matrix meter II (SFA diff), 20% larger shot buffer (40 Jpegs continuous vs 50 in the Hs), plus some other undefined refinements.
But the quoted 2900 shots per battery!!! That's a big wow, considering the D70's quoted 1500 shot between charges is pretty much spot on in real life usage.
If the PMA has a new release news for all our fellows D70members, it won't change your way of using the D70 or upgrade yourself to the new announced model of Dxxx, isn't it?
The issue we have here is everyone is looking some new model of DSLR release, and IMHO, if it's they're still far our reach atm, some of you may not thinking of ditching the D70 and go grab the new Dxxx as soon as it appears on the shelves. More interesting things are Nikon is not committed to have any news on their future model of DSLR and perhaps giving you another year to enjoy your D70. Birddog114
