Hi All,

I'm going to be travellling through asia for 3 months from december the 12th. Its going to be very hot and humid. I was looking at Pelican cases as they can protect against humidity. However they look really clunky and I'm not looking forward to lugging it around through thailand, veitnam etc. How long does it take for mould and fungus to get inside lenses in these conditions. Is 3 months short enough to get away with my lowerpro bag? If not I'll buy a case. Just wondering - anyone got any experience in this matter?

just carry a few large ziplock bags with some desiccant. Put your gear in it at night. Weighs a lot less then a pelican case.

Also, just be mindful when you go in/out of a/c buildings. As you transit from a/c to non-a/c or vice versa, that's where you will get condensation so if you think of it, put your camera in a ziplock before going inside or outside, let it "equalise" then you should be right.

Those will do, or just your standard Glad zip slide bags you can get at Coles or Woolworth

Also remember to pack several small batches of silica gel and seal them, instead of just carrying one lot. That way, you can still keep going later in your trip.

I spent three weeks in Cambodia and this was all I used.
The only problem was letting the camera get used to being outside after spending the evening in the AC of the hotel. Just had to remember to take the lens cap off, for a short time before I needed to shoot.
