hey everyone, just after a lil advice on which gels to use for different situations, ive worked out when to use the cto orange but was wondering which gels to use for (a) late afternoon lighting and (b) night time street lighting. my searches for info havent been very productive so far.......

I think the only way to be sure is experimenting.
I found that tungsten (halogen) light cannot be matched with the darker orange gel that Nikon supplies, you need at least two. The lighter orange one my be good for late afternoon sunlight, but that changes quickly, and makes it bit hard to pick the right gel.
With street lighting all bets are off, IMO, as it can have all sorts of colours. It's probably best to take test shots beforehand and take note which gels worked best at which corner of the street.
Cheers
Steffen.

Yeah, go ahead and play, they last quite a a while. Even if they're all crumpled up they still work fine.
