Which set up is the better one?The man has agreed to buy me a light tent setup for some jewellery I have started to make and am hoping to sell....nothing like a birthday present that can be a business write off....anyway
These are two I have found on ebay but like opinions on which would be best to go with, its the lights really that I am unsure on. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0182409609 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Soft-cube-Light- ... dZViewItem Any light you can shed (hahahaha) would be appreciated. Hi Deb,
There were a few threads on the forum about making one yourself: http://www.dslrusers.com/viewtopic.php? ... ight+tent; The other one I cannot find - but essentially it was covering a laundry bin frame with a white material. I built one of them, and whilst it was fun to do and I learned a lot about light, if I had to do it again I would just get one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/32-80cm-Soft-Pho ... dZViewItem. You are correct, the light makes a big difference, both the temperature and the distribution. But you can solve this yourself very easily by buying a few deskclamp lights from Bunnings and using 6500K (bright daylight) fluorescent globes. Personally I think that two light sources are not enough, I use four (but then the reflectors on the lamps are not ideal). Not wanting to discourage you from getting a business write-off birthday present though GaryR

Excellent Gary
I have limited ability to get to stores which is why I was all for purchasing a kit from one place. Plus I love it when packages arrive! Thanks for taking the time to reply. "Sometimes when you are sad Poko, it's good to hug the monkey."
sorry I moved host and all the links went haywire
here is the laundry basket one I made http://mcgoffs.net/home-made-light-tent but the cube ones look like a better option as they are a lot easier to store
I went for am 80cm light tent from an eBay seller called Infoserver. It cost me about $40 with no lights.
I figured if I buy one, Id get one as large as I can for reasonable money. Also if I ever use it to sit over a light as a soft box light for larger subjects, I figured the extra size would get it away from any heat the light may generate. Nunquam requîrere a aptus occãsiõ ad claudere sûrsum
Keith thanks for the link. Very creative.

very nice indeed, think i might save myself a few pennies and destroy some laundry equipment

I have the set-up as shown in the first link, but with the bigger tent (80 cm on each side) and am very happy with it. I have been using it quite heavily in the past few weeks for product shoots.

Thank you Alex, it's always good to get the info from someone who has the set up.
