Your wishes have to be real, affordable and achievable (Not dreaming) of one item which is related to your photography hobby.
Mine is a Nikon 300VR

To see and play with a real Epson P2000. Spoken to an Epson Rep at Best Buy, and he was like, "never heard of it, sounds really cool though"

Personally I would like to be still around come my birthday - but if driven to make a choice it would be to take an award winning photo

You guys must have very generous friends/family/wives!
I would love to have a 12-24 wide angle lens, however I can't see my g/f buying this for me, unless it's my next 10 years worth of birthdays!

Good question Birddog, I think a AFS 300 F4 would go great with my 1.7TC, or maybe the new Gitzo 1155T (not out yet) or an appropriate head for it. Maybe PMA will produce an interesting 18-70 2.8 DX? Or if anyone I know wins Lotto maybe a D2X.

A convertible car. I miss driving around topless.
A Nikkor 12-24.
A retirement home in Le Cinque Terre. Monterosso Al Mare would be perfect.
I'm not greedy.

A 70-200VR would be nice, but I guess that's a bit unreasonable. I hope to have it before my birthday comes around anyway..
A decent backpack for my gear is more reasonable. Maybe a Mini Trekker AW or Rover AW II. A chunky voucher for some Nikon gear wouldn't go astray either

Gary, can't you just take your shirt off now and drive around topless in one of your Alfas?

At the rate I'm going, there will be nothing for my birthday this year. I just got back from lunch holding a new set of golf clubs
Now I have to take it home and pretend nothing happened at lunch today.

Now that I think about it... I did mention to my wife how great it would be if I had an F3HP with a 50 f1.2, I guess that will put a smile on my face

An 85mm 1.4f for me please
Although the 17-55DX looks nice too. Must look into one of them. I saw the promo photo of the D2x and it had a 17-55DX on it, so it must be good.

For every day, I would wish for another day to relax, learn & master my passion.
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY.
Mic always out of time.
Time : something thats goes by very quickly and is free to all of us to do what we want with it.
That enough for me being philosophical.
Probably a D2H

Sheesh................I'm 42 in March and I'm tossing up between an 85mm 1.8 or a sea kayak

Hey you can't use the "C" word here matey!! But seriously, (???) It's my Birthday this Saturday and I wish I knew more about photography. I have already purchased myself a new lens (12-24 DX thankyou Birdy) which is on it's way to me right now BUT a macro lens for floral photography would be rather good. Pity I know nothing about them!

...so many lenses, so few birthdays left!
I would love an 80-400 VR, but more realistically something like a Bigma or something else in the Sigma long end of the range.
