Argentina (Patagonia) experience?

Postby DaveB on Mon Nov 19, 2007 10:04 am

Hmmm, 3 travel-related posts in a row... there's no general "travel"/"locations" forum so here will have to do...

Has anyone here travelled to Patagonia? Particularly the region around Peninsula Valdes? I'm working on a possible trip itinerary for 2009 (primarily for wildlife of course, but passing through Buenos Aires) so any experiences could be useful.

Please post here, or PM me if you're shy. ;)

Thanks!

I think it is Thom Hogan who has a lot of experience down there, although if you are considering going there you probably know this, I would look up his site and even email him for advice if you have specific questions. Although I have not been to South America that part of the world is pretty wild and challenging. It should be a great trip.

Thanks.
FWIW, Thom's 2008 Patagonia tour isn't going anywhere near my own Patagonian targets: we're planning to concentrate our work near the Atlantic coast before heading down to Tierra del Fuego. I may drop him a line in any case.

Dave - I did Buenos Aires to El Calafarte in December almost two years ago. I went to see the Perito Moreno Glacier.

Only had 4 days down there, (needed way more)

Stunning place
