Model has issues re:Model Release FormHey guys
I've been trying to organise a shoot for a swimwear company. Had everything organised until I showed the model the release form. She refused to sign it because of this wording: For the images captured on *******, the unrestricted right and permission to copyright and use, re-use, publish, and republish photographic portraits or pictures of me or in which I may be included intact or in part, composite or distorted in character or form, without restriction as to changes or transformations in conjunction with my own or a fictitious name, or reproduction hereof in color or otherwise, made through any and all media now or hereafter known for illustration, art, promotion, advertising, trade, or any other purpose whatsoever. I'm pretty sure its a standard clause. Right? Anyway I've cancelled it since this particular model seem to have trust issues and I can't imagine what she would be like come shooting time. Opinions/comments?
Re: Model has issues re:Model Release FormI would have got another model........
Cheers ....bp....

Re: Model has issues re:Model Release FormI wouldn't sign that crap unless I was being paid a bloody fortune.!!! Why would your model want to sign it? Basically you're saying you could put the elephant mans body under her head and publish world-wide with her name in the caption. Present your model with a fair and decent release and she may be more likely to sign it. Just because she has a great body doesn't mean she doesn't have brains.

Re: Model has issues re:Model Release FormI'm with Matt on this one. All looked okay until this bit: "in which I may be included intact or in part, composite
or distorted in character or form, without restriction as to changes or transformations in conjunction with my own or a fictitious name" Can't remember if there are example releases in the forums, but if not I can dig out the model releases I used to use if you need some guidelines. http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
Re: Model has issues re:Model Release FormThat young lady has not only got her head screwed on the right way around but she said no! Many others would have just signed

Re: Model has issues re:Model Release Form
Hey mate, yeah if you can that would be great. Anyway the model has been dropped.
Re: Model has issues re:Model Release Formtake a look at this one from getty images: http://contributors.gettyimages.com/img ... 406_US.pdf
very similar to yours, but the wording is a bit 'nicer' per se. If that doesn't help I'll dig out my files. cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
Re: Model has issues re:Model Release FormCool cool thanks mate.
I like the part about 'except pornographic or defamtory' since the model needed a lot of reassurance the shoot is 'G' rated. As for the first, second para re: use of image I had similar clause and she didn't agree with it. She wanted to dictate and wanted me to seek her permission for the use of images outside my portfolio work. Anyway im not glad that she was dropped but glad I don't need to worry about it anymore
Re: Model has issues re:Model Release FormI need to check: we had some files available on the old site, but I've not yet pulled them across here.
I know that we've had model releases in the past, but I think that Steve (Killakoala) hosted them on his site. If he did, then a forum search for "model release" should give them to you more quickly than I'll be able to. g.

Re: Model has issues re:Model Release FormLike this wording in the second one: "with any reasonable retouching or alteration."
I think that's pretty fair. http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
Re: Model has issues re:Model Release Form
My pleasure, Ron. I'll see if I can get a set of links for this stuff onto the front page over the weekend. g.
