My 30D fell face forward (with bodycap on), just pushed over, not fall to the floor or anything.

Now, the metering is showing crazy meterings. Like when I put f/1.4, ISO3200, it'll want 2 seconds.
I tried different lenses, even without lenses (with body cap) it'll show similar metering for with body cap on as compared to without body cap.

Should I try to open it myself?

Only if you plan to toss it when done or have the means to fix it, otherwise send it in for repairs, but then it is a question of what it is worth.

Have you tried cleaning the lens contacts? Just a thought tho...

Its interesting that you should post this .... at the moment I am writing a story for AP on the subject of camera repairs. Aside from being a camera tech in an earlier life I also interviewed a couple of techs for the story and I can tell you, one of the things you do not want to do is rip into the camera yourself..... it is beyond comprehension what is is packed into there but there is also a reasonable chance you will give yourself a nice shock from the built in flash.

If it was a Nikon or similar of the older variety then I would be considering it might be a sticky movement.... the fact is though that there is no mechanical devices on the camera side of the metering system on a Canon EOS camera. What I would check though is that no buttons have been fully depressed and stuck in. As a thought, remove the battery for a while and then reinstall it and do a full reset. See how that goes and then send it to the guys at Camera Clinic.

I've got a few gears to send for repair... my 300D, my 30D, my 17-85 and I've just sent off my 12-24 a few weeks ago! haha.

Yi-P, I tried with different lenses and even with no lens, still not good. Where the lightmeter told me 1/40sec, the camera meter told me 10 seconds

Check that the lens aperture lever...a small metal lug just inside the throat of the camera hasn't been bent. It moves up and down each time you fire the shutter. If it is bent then you can usually straighten it....but gently.

I'm having trouble finding this on my 30D How deep in the throat? Just behind the mount?
