image download software - cam2pc

Hi there
Recently got a new nikon digital slr and ran "picture project" software. Had previously used Canon Zoombrowser with my compact digital camera. I had also played around with an old version of cam2pc by Nabocorp. Now that we have 3 digital cameras in the family I wanted to use download package that would work well with all three and arrange downloaded folders (in windows explorer) in order of 'date of picture taken'. I also wanted software that would maintain image orientation based on rotate information.
I played around for a while, but it seems that with both the canon and nikon software the user must make compromises and there is some things that just cannot be customised with both these packages. The Cam2pc seemed to be the winner. I ended up updating to the current version (4.6) and now have found that I will probably have to buy the version. I had a look on the forums on their website (http://www.nabocorp.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=3) and it seems the software authors have had little to do with the products for a long time.
I just want see what other users are using and if anyone is using this product and has any problems with it? It seems like a great product. I keep finding feature that surprise me, but I don't want to end up with something that become redundant due to lack of development.
Any comment would be appreciated.
cheers
