After Dawesy was good enough to post about Thom's new D300 book coming out I looked at Thom's site and saw his review of the D300 is out. A very detailed review and very useful for someone with an older Nikon DSLR to see if the upgrade is worthwhile.

Thanks Glen. The D300 looks like a great camera. I'll have to me one. :chook:

And a Poon plug from Thom ...

Speaking of connectors, the D300 also sports a PC Sync socket and 10-pin connector on the front, both under an F6-like rubber door contraption, which is a welcome relief from those darned small caps we all kept losing. All of Nikon's 10-pin remotes work with the D300, which is nice, but note that they are much more expensive than the ones for the consumer cameras. Personally, I like the Phottix Cleon, which is an inexpensive wireless remote from Hong Kong that works just fine with the D300.

And, it seems, Thom has MyProblem when it comes to MyMenu ... :)

And why can't I add Format memory card to MyMenu?.

I thought the Poon plug was great too.

Andrew, hope you like it  Just don't get it by UPS, they have a go slow on D300 to the mountains

Ummm, because it's a readily accessible two button affair to begin with?

Yes, but no.

We have had this discussion before: the two button mode is acceptable to some, and a PITA to others. I loathe it.

Besides, that is not any reason, let alone a good one, to not have it available on MyMenu.

So, no, that is not the correct answer. :)

"Readily accesible" and "two button" - surely that must've come from a Canon user (req. three buttons to change ISO)! ;)

I really dont mind the two-button format, use it all the time, it has become second nature
