A review of the D300 is up on DPReview. Quite complimentary with a long list of pro and not many cons. If you don't have time to read it I will leave you with the very last line - There's simply no better semi-professional digital SLR on the market.

Well being an owner of the D300, I'm pretty happy with what dpreview had to say, although I do question on why it took so long...

And since that is out, I guess the D3's review might be out soon as well.

This helps me. I've been looking at a D300 for a few weeks now, and just really trying to read as many reviews and get a good feel of the camera before i buy it. Thanks!

Just get the camera. You will not regret it. The reviews I have read all fail to do the camera justice, it is that good.

Phoenix, I doubt you will find one owner on the forum who thinks the D300 was a poor purchase

And if they do, I'll swap them a D200  I'd love to get a D300, but will concentrate on collecting glass for now.

Gee guys, do you remember when we used to be saying that about the D200 .... what a pity technology is progressing so fast!
I have not bought the D300 (yet) but I did leaned my D3 to a colleague last week and this is the email I got from him later the same day ....
I made a big mistake letting myself be seduced by your siren call... try the D3.... don't be afraid to use iso 800, blah blah
I should have told you to piss off.
How can I possibly ever use the D200 again
I would go so far as to say 800 is equivalent to 100 ISO on the D200!
By comparison the D200 is a f**king toy.
Happy now?

He is now in the process of selling Nikon F5s, a Leica kit, Blad gear and his D200 to move up to the D3 with a D300 in reserve.
I have to confess to selling my D200 and as soon as I can afford it I will be getting a D300 as a second camera (assuming nothing is announced before then!)

Yeah i have a few jobs on in the next few weeks that will be paying for the D300, two new lenses and some type of lighting kit. Because of all the suggestions in my other thread i know the D300 is a good choice. It's still nice to get some validation from other places though. I'll eventually get the D3 and use the D300 for the second body. I really can't wait.

Is this a historic review? Like...Ziess Ikon Contessa and all that sort of stuff? Or is this a new model of the D300 thats been around for ages?
