Been a bit hectic today.. Yeah the lens came in yestrday at about 2:30pm.. fantastic service again, but I haven't been at my system and haven't had time to play with the lens much yet..
scared myself stupid with it.. by default it was set to manual exposure.. should've read the manual first.. spent 10 minutes wondering why the autofocus options were greyed out..

1/60 I think for him.. I love VR.. 1/60 at 400mm with my hands would just not work otherwise

The magpie is unsharpened out of the camera, I feel the shot is a lot sharper than it would've been with my Tamron.. I guess there's a quality difference beyond the inclusion of VR that seperates the $250 from the $1700

I accessed pics just before Glen posted and they were fine for me.
The magpie is way impressive (just looked at the large version) especially given manual focus. Eyes are in focus and you can see every detail in the feathers. Good example of what can be done with the 80-400

This'll be interesting on Sunday, with all them zooms swingin' round we'll need the VR due to the centrifugal force of the zooms moving the ute
