Very good question.
We might need to send this user notices and / or cancel his accounts. He's probably not receiving the email addresses to join and its likely to be a problem with his server not liking ours or vice versa. Either way, a suggestion of using a freebie address like a Gmail or Hotmail is warranted for those people. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

We have to send a team to Chicago to have a mini-meet with him

I've already noticed this, and it's now 6 different logins, none of which have been activated, and all of which have bogus email addresses.
I don't know, but I'm going to see if I can track him through the apache logs and isolate his IP address. If I can, it'll be bye bye. Clearly a prime nominee for the VI club. g.

I think I have this sorted out now.
This poor user is using comcast.net as his ISP. In the past they've permitgted their servers to be abused and a source of major spam attacks, and so they're banned from my email server. I opened up the gate to send this user just the one message, telling him that his ISP's domain isn't permitted here because of that, and suggesting that he uses an alternate email address, such as gmail or yahoo. The comcast gate has now been closed again, and I need to remember this for the future. g.

Are you saying that Dad is a user abuser or that this guy is?
I'm not sure whether he's abusing the rules of one user per person... it might be just that since he hasn't been getting the emails, he's assumed he hasn't joined or something like that... then again, he may very well be attempting to abuse the system... who knows. Once he actually answers his email or understands that he has to change his email addy to a different one and officially joins the forum, then we'll know. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

Life's pretty straight without drifting

Our server blocks certain domains that send us a lot of spam and a few people who we've seen try to join (while we've been operating) have tried to sign up with addresses from said domains.
Now, as you know from signing up here, we send out a confirmation email to the email address you sign up with and you must click on a link (or copy and paste it in your url bar in your browser) to confirm that you are a member here, etc. Well, in these cases, because the domain name isn't thought too favourably at our end, those emails are not likely to ever reach the user in question, and as a result, are likely to try and try again for a different account thinking it was an error of the server.
