Hi

For those pro photographers out there, do you have public liability and product liability insurance?

Is product liability really needed for portrait work?

Can anyone recommend an insurance broker/company?

Thanks Michael.
I was told, when applying for a quote, that I MUST have product liability insurance if I want to sell albums. Not really convinced I must have it!
Interesting...hmm.

From the federal government business website:

Product Liability
If you sell, supply or deliver goods, even in the form of repair or service, you may need cover against claims of goods causing injury or damage. Product liability insurance covers damage or injury caused to another business or person by the failure of your product or the product you are selling.

I can't imagine how an album would fail causing injury or damage (short of a nasty paper cut).

I think insurance companies might be trying to squeeze every cent of you.

Been covered a bit before. One post was: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=29303&p=326350&hilit=insurance#p326350

I have 20k of gear with AON. I havent bothered with public liability as I have 20 Million thru my other business and it is blanket enough to cover me.

Some motorsport or media reps for large motorsport events will not let you have media creds if you dont have liability cover.
