Shoot your Guitar!!

Postby surenj on Sat Feb 23, 2008 2:06 pm

I saw the longest running thread in the history of the forum and didn't see any guitar picture threads...

here's 3 of my 4 guitars that i currently have

from far to close they are an Olympia OD12S-N (steel string, the one that goes everywhere, not crap but not brilliant, don't mind if it gets scratched) a Rodriguez D (my best guitar, a classical. really nice sound) and a La Patrie Concert (another classical, used to be my best guitar, not as bright and not as nice to play as the rodriguez)

The fact that you can, is by no means a reason why you should.

The rules here - you have read and understood the FAQ, right? - clearly say that, without asking a mod or an admin beforehand, four images is the limit per post and/or thread that may be posted.

I have edited your secondary post accordingly, and I would greatly appreciate it if you could now take some time to read the FAQ.

Well I'm the most musically challenged person on the planet, so i won't be posting any of these anytime soon. But i may have the opportunity to take some shots of some local bands in the coming weeks, so i might post some of those instead :D

As promised ,here it is.Had this since i was about 10.Its had a few different pickups in it,has a seymour duncan Pearly gates in it at the moment.Neck pickup is totally useless and needs replacing .Frets have been dressed to within a fraction of their lives, bone nut, some good fine tuners .Its due for some new pots and plug socket though.Use to have an Ibanez strat copy with a floyd rose bar and a Steve Vai dimarzio pickup which was my pride and joy till it was stolen  (Bastards!) I can't walk past a hock shop without looking ,just in case i see it hanging there.

i'm guessing that it's a synthesizer that you can control the volume, tone, pitch and all that kinda gear the same was as you would with a trumpet, or several other wind instruments. i've heard of them before but never actually seen them. quite a handy bit of kit that if it's what i think it is!

It's is actually a Windsynth with MIDI out.
I connect it to a Yamaha VL-70 sound module which creates the sound.

I often get asked does it or can it sound like a real trumpet?
I say if you want to sound like a real trumpet I say play an analogue trumpet.

The beauty of this beast is it gives brass players the opportunities piano players and guitarists have had for years to have a creative option to enter the digital sound world with an increase in range and unlimited sounds.

For some videos of it in action have a look here.

Re: Shoot your Guitar!!

Postby rflower on Wed Mar 19, 2008 8:53 pm

My mate has just got a Maton EA80, with a few custom addons, including mother of pearl inlays in the finger board.

I have banged up a couple of shots for him so far, but he wants me to do a better photo shoot of his new pride and joy (and maybe his old Fender Strat too).

Anyone got any tips?
I have got a few shots in mind- macro type shots down the strings etc.
Will buy some backdrop type material from spotlight - Velvetine type stuff we are thinking ...

We want to try and capture some with the Mother of pearl, showing different colours. Any tips or ideas on how to do this?

Thanks

Hi Afro,

The Tat's are real. She is a Tatoo Artist. They run from top of hand all the way down to her toes.

In the B@W I have masked the stars on multiple layers and colourised them. In the second shot you'll see their real colours.

Hi Russell,

I have one of those EA80's as well. They are a very nice guitar to play, plenty of balls while still maintaining great clarity. As for the mother of pearl, does it have big blocks or dots? I can only think of experimenting with light placement to see which angle reflects the best.

Hi glennles.

It has big block inlays down the neck, and Maton written down the headstock

Here's my latest purchase - part of the Gretsch Americana series. It might look like a toy, but is a joy to play and has a really nice sound.
