There has to be a drawback somewhere, sounds like the type of features you would expect from a top of the line pro type camera costing many thousands of dollars, but this is a p&s.

Wouldn't your flash card fill up within a couple of seconds??

wait.. i cant remember if its capable of doing 1200fps in movie mode only or if it will work in still mode as well?

I read something on Engadget that said it significantly reduces the resolution/dimensions of the image at high FPS's. ie. it cant shoot fullsize images at high FPS so that might be the answer to your questions Surenj

I had a fairly decent read of the website and the 1200fps is only available in movie mode. In normal photo mode it can do 60fps. There was an interesting feature on the camera though... When shooting in still mode, the camera will cache a bunch of photos at 60fps either side of the actual photo you take, so if you miss the perfect shot by a couple of frames, you can pick the one you really want and ditch the rest... its cool, but it kind of takes some of the skill/fun out of the photography.

I reckon it would be great fun just turn turn on the movie mode at 1200fps and throw the thing through the air... i don't think that has ever been done. Does footage like this exist somewhere?

The closest I've seen to that is a wedding photographer in the US (I think there was a link in this site somewhere) He was tossing a Canon SLR a few meters up in the air. Not sure if he was using remote triggering but he was getting some interesting results.
