Hi all,

just puzzled for wedding photography....

What are good Wedding Photography Lenses to use for a nikon DX system?

or rather are the normal lens range people use to "catch the Action" during the afternoon reception or dinner in the ballroom?

hmmm.. are ultra-wide angles lenses useful?? e.g. tokina 11-16? or 12-24 ranges or sigma 10-20mm range?

which you be your preferred choice of ultra-wide angle lenses then?

Onto your questions;

1. Good lenses for the Nikon DX system, I'd suggest a few (if money is no limit and when setting up any successful business you should afford the very best you can at the start, especially if you want to make it a long term venture);

1. 85mm 1.4 (beautiful for portraits, and allows you to also 'step back' and get some magic moments of the B&G together.

2. Nikor 12-24 OR the sigma 10-20 (this is quite a discussed topic on this forum, have a look/search around)

3. 70-200VR 2.8 This would have to be the nicest zoom lens that provides a beautiful bokeh and sharp images from 2.8 through to F10 and beyond...

4. 17-35 2.8 or the 17-55 2.8, these are both great lenses and I think it comes down to personal preference. I own the 17-55DX and am pretty happy with it.

5. If you can't afford (yet) the 85 1.4, the 50mm 1.4 is a LOT less and produces some beautiful bokeh and images too.

6. The nikkor 10.5mm fisheye lens could also be considered a great addition to a wedding kit, nice and wide and able to produce some different but very effective wedding styled shots.

Two lens system - 17-55 and 70-200.

Three lens system - 14-24, 24-70 and 70-200

70-200 can be replaced with 85 more than adequately but in a wedding situation, zooms are much more practical (if you have the money, buy both).

17-35 is a great lens, but limited focal length range so probably not worth it (in favour of the 17-55 DX).
