Profoto strobes and floorpack questions

I'm just wondering if the Compact 600 or 1200 can be powered by a lead acid battery (either Profoto's own thing or buy one at an auto store)?
And who is the local distributor for Profoto? I'm going to get the 7b floor pack plus a few heads OR several of the Compact 600s...
