Battery for D70?

Postby Spooky on Sat Feb 26, 2005 1:54 pm

Hello

I notice alot of cheap "Nikon" EL-EL3 batteries for sale on ebay.

I take it these are copies of the genuine article?

Are they okay to use?

spooky

Yes they are copies, but generally these generics are fine. I have 2 that work the same as the Nikon one. Battery life is also very good regardless of battery. There's lots more discussion on this here

I believe that the general consenus of opinion is that they are OK.

Some people do not see the need for an additional battery, as battery life on the D70 is excellent. Although this would be different if you are using onboard flash a lot. Forget about the CR2 batteries.

When you have become a member, you will be able to buy via this site the genuine product at greatly reduced price to RRP.

Thanks all for the advice.

I had a look around the site and couldn't see how to become a member. I note there are some threads there about and making 30 posts, but they are very long. Are the rules listed somewhere?

As I understand it, 30 posts of your own or commenting on other people post (s), together with picture (s) of your own. We have a free website for uploading picture (s) at:

http://www.pixspot.com/thumbnails.php?album=20

Join up, if you do not have a place to upload picture (s) and you can either refer paste PixSpot picture location or embed. Here are the instruction for embedding:

I see repeated requests for this and they always seem hard to find. Hopefully you found this

In order to embed an image in a post the image needs to be stored on the internet somewhere. Many members here use Pixspot (http://www.pixspot.com) which is provided to us free by one of our members (Kristine), but you can also use other sites like smugmug (http://www.smugmug.com) or pbase (http://www.pbase.com) but you pay for them.

If you want to use Pixspot and haven't signed up already go sign up there then come back here. You can also see this thread for details on how to upload images to pixspot.

Please don't make your images large in size or dimension as they can take a long while to load for members on slow connections. I suggest keeping the file size < 200K and the image dimensions no more than 800 pixels on the largest side.

The following steps assume you have your image somewhere:

Find the url to your image. If you are using Pixspot you would do the following:

Go to pixspot and display the image you want to embed.
Make sure you get to the image by starting from your gallery - DO NOT get there by choosing the image from the Random or Most recent picture links or the link will only work temporarily
click the right mouse button on your image to popup a list of options

Choose properties from the bottom of the list by clicking it with your left mouse button. You'll see a properties window with a whole stack of info. You want the bit after the address heading starting with http.

Highlight the whole of this from http: to the end of the address by using your mouse (it may be over a few lines and will end in .jpg or whatever file format your image is).

While this is highlighted hit Ctrl-C to copy the URL to your clipboard.

In your message, position where you want to insert your image and type or paste the URL of the image.

Highlight the newly pasted URL with your mouse

Now if you look up the top of the message editing window you'll see a number of buttons with the last two being Img and URL. The one you need to use is Img. While you have the URL of your image highlighted, click Img. This will put after it.

That's it - your image will display when the message is viewed. To check this before posting click the Preview button at the bottom of your screen.

Once you're happy with the results click the Submit button.

If you have an image too large to embed or want to provide a link to the image rather than embed it you follow the steps above but click the URL button at step 4 instead of clicking Img
Good luck.

Probably at the start of the thread you were reading.

Three basics

- 30 (roughly) posts made. Attending a mreet or two helps reduce this, and this is only a guide. If we feel someone's posts are of a trolling nature, we'll let you wait longer. become and active and valuable member of the community, and we might advance you.
- you must have your location in your profile. This is not negotiable.
- should have posted an image.

Bottom line is that this is a community. Make yourself an active memeber of the community and it will happen.

It's that simple
