Looking into the future, has anyone heard of any plans to ever put a video function into a digital SLR camera, like there is in point-and-shoot models?

Just attach a recorder to the video output of the camera, put it in live view mode, and it's done.

IMHO

DLSRs are for people who want the best STILL images you can get.

Video Cameras are for people who want the best video you can get.

P&S cameras with video are for people who want both, but aren't fussy about quality.

Although, that said, a HD recorder in a DSLR would be pretty neat. For the time being, I will settle with 8fps.

I held the RED video camera yesterday, it was so nice! 12megapixel raw files at 25fps, better than the pentax which is only at 1mp or something. :P

Where. Where did you hold the RED camera. I need to get one in for review. :P

And back on topic, you can use a DSLR as a video camera. Or I can anyway...

He's a cinematographer in Brisbane and goes into Photo Continental regularly, does that help? :P

But he's going overseas for some commercial shoots so yeah...
